  • Has anyone used Lucidpress since our last class? How did it go?
  • Any questions from last time?
  • Show hook

Review Design Principles

HERE IS A PRESENTATION YOU CAN USE FOR THESE CONCEPTS

  • Font and color coordination
  • Less is more, especially with effects
  • Keep paragraphs and body text lines short for readability
  • Call-out boxes to emphasize important concepts
  • Serif vs. sans serif fonts
  • Font size (7-11 for body, 12 and up for titles)

Advanced Text Options

  • Text options and alignment (under Fonts)
  • Paragraph styles
  • Bullets and lists
  • Spacing
  • Tabs and Indents
  • Horizontal rules
  • Warp
  • Hyphenation

Layers

  • Layers panel overview
    • Creating, deleting, moving, locking layers

Practice, practice, practice!

  • Let the students work on their magazine spreads using the sample text provided. If they’ve brought other projects from their department or committee or class or something, they can work on those instead. Answer questions, and if someone’s question would help multiple people, go ahead and explain it to everyone. Make sure to encourage creativity!
  • Have people share their magazines!

Conclusion

  • How do you feel about Lucidpress compared to the first day?
  • Tell them about other classes they can take
  • Tell them where they can find the Library Chat
