Summative Review activity

  • Basic Trimming
    • Bring in the clip “Britton Struggling” and lay it over the end of the first speaking clip “Jonathan.” Cut it to an appropriate length and line it up with a good portion of the audio.
  • Ripple Delete
    • The first “Huey” clip is coming in to early. Use the Ripple delete tool to trim the beginning of it so that you don’t have to move all the other clips into sync afterwards.
  • Setting In and Out points
    • Set the In and Out points for the Tusken Raider Britton clip (find where he is holding the computer above his head and shaking it like the Sand people shake their rifles). Then insert it into the Sequence on top of the Star Wars clip. Be sure to just insert the video. You will also have to and an Ultra Key effect.
  • Slip Edits
    • In the second “Jonathan” clip, the mouth is out of sync with the audio. Please use the slip tool to line it up properly. (It’s 8 frames off, so drag it 8 frames to the right to fix it)
  • Razor Tool
    • The clip “Photoshop Britton” is too long, but instead of using the normal trimming tool to shorten it, use the Razor tool to cut it where it should end and delete the remaining piece.
  • Rolling Edit Tool
    • In the Brady Bunch section, Julie is looking up at seemingly nothing. Just use the Rolling Edit tool to adjust the cut so that she appears a little later when she’s looking straight out.
    • Please also line up the ending logo slides so they line up on the Beat at they change.
  • Replacing Clips with Alt and drag and drop
    • Just practice switching different people in different locations by dragging out different Brady Bunch clips. Hold Alt to swap it for the clip currently there.
  • Rearranging Clips with Alt + Command
    • Also practice switching their placement on the Timeline with Alt Command. Be sure to take the future clip and drag it until it’s beginning is lined up with the start of the previous clip.
  • Disconnecting Audio and Video/Trimming Audio and Video separately
    • We would like a J cut on Huey when he starts talking again after the Brady Bunch section, meaning that we want his voice to come in but his face to come in later. Because they are Linked we won’t be able to shorten the video separately unless we unlink it. Do this first by unlinking the Video and Audio and then do it by holding Alt and trimming in the normal way.
  • Adjusting the volume
    • Key frame the rubber band to adjust the volume where you feel it is hard to understand the speaker
    • Also use the Audio Mixer to record new volume levels in real time as you listen to the track.
  • Resizing a clip
    • Peter’s clip is a bit too large. Resize it to make it more like the others.
  • Applying Transitions
    • There are some Transitions mission throughout the project. Please add them in where you feel it is appropriate.
  • Creating a Title Slide
    • Create a new Title slide to Introduce Jordan Huey, as there currently isn’t one in the Sequence when we first meet him.
  • Time Remapping and Exporting a Still Frame
    • We’d like to have a freeze frame at the end with Britton holding his arms out. Do this both by exporting a still frame and then by freezing it with Time Remapping. (Duplicate the sequence first so that you can do each option in a separate sequence).
    • Slowing time, Speeding up time, Reversing Time
      • Play around with slowing, speeding, and reversing people from the Brady Bunch section.
  • Animating Clip Effects with the Effect Panel
    • Add a cool color effect to the Last Clip of Britton with the fireworks and then animate it in the Effects panel to change colors with time so that it looks kind of like he’s surrounded by fireworks.
