After Effects, VFX Day 5

Objectives

  • Students will use the skills they have learned to make something genuinely impressive

Outline

  • Show example file of what we will be doing
  • Tracking
    • Use motion track on both of the eyes
  • Solids
    • Explain what they are and why we use them
    • Create one and parent it to the tracker
  • Masking and keyframing
    • Have them mask the eyes
    • Revisit path key framing to make them match the eyes
  • Blending
    • Bring in the fire element and set it to Screen to put in the lady’s eye
    • Parent to tracker
    • Keyframe the mask
  • More masking
    • Create and parent another solid to the other eye
    • Inter secting masks
      • Show everyone how to intersect two masks on the eye. (one is a circle, the other the shape of the eye)
  • Effects
    • Gradient Ramp
    • Explain what it is and apply it
  • Wrapping it up
    • Explain that everyone knows how to use tools really well. It’s just a matter of how to apply them
